Individual AI-Enabled Tutoring: Solving the Two-Sigma Problem One Learner at a Time

I am deeply committed to revolutionising the learning landscape for all learners, regardless of their underlying learning styles, capabilities, needs, or means. That’s why Yvonne Soh and I founded Noodle Factory.

Right around one year ago, Yvonne and I were with Professor Zubin Sethna on the campus of Regents University in London. We were continuing a conversation about the idea of taking what is available for learners via Noodle Factory (typically through an institutional or organisational LMS) and making that available at the individual level. An individual, secure tutor that–maybe students and/or parents could use—is almost like a Noodle Factory “light.”

Well, we’ve just launched something exactly like that. It’s called NoodleMe. Learners (and parents) can upload their own learning materials, like notes, websites, documents, or transcripts, and NoodleMe will transform those into interactive learning resources. So, it’s like Noodle Factory, but for the individual student/learner.

Also, like Noodle Factory, the ability to use any language is available in NoodleMe. This is a huge advantage for students who are studying a course or who desire to learn something but who are using a language that may not be native to them. It is also a way to advance language learning for students who are looking for an interesting, self-directed way to apply the language skills they are developing practically.

As in Noodle Factory, students can set individual learning goals with their AI tutor and engage in Socratic dialogue, classic tutoring, role-plays, coaching, knowledge checks, etc. This is a potential game-changer, particularly for students who need that extra boost that only a dedicated AI tutor can provide.

Reimagining Personalised Learning

NoodleMe is another extension of the innovations we have undertaken to democratise access to quality education using high-quality AI tutors. It's a powerful AI-driven platform that transforms any learning material–be it notes, documents, or websites—into an interactive, personalised tutor. Out of the box, Mac (as in Macaroni), the AI tutor, can engage students in Socratic dialogue, offer tutoring sessions, facilitate role-plays, provide coaching, and conduct knowledge checks. It's like having a patient, knowledgeable tutor available 24/7, ready to adapt to each student's unique learning style and pace.

Safety and Security: A Top Priority

With the explosion of readily available AI tools, the security of student data is paramount. That's why we've designed NoodleMe to be 100% private and secure. NoodleMe doesn't share information with large language models (LLMs) or use any data that learners or parents upload to train these models. This commitment to data privacy ensures that students and parents can use the platform with confidence, knowing their personal information and learning data remain secure and private.

Breaking Language Barriers

One of the most exciting features of NoodleMe is its simultaneous, real-time support for over 110 languages. This multilingual capability is a significant step towards true educational inclusivity.
